August 30, 2007 (Computerworld) -- Foreign nationals living in the U.S. are responsible for one of every four international patent applications filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, according to a study released this month. But the study warns that if the federal government doesn't make it easier for foreigners to get green cards or permanent residency status, many of those inventors may leave the U.S. in what the authors describe as a "reverse brain drain."
